Palisade is a great little town nestled into the East end of the Grand Valley. We enjoy a rich array of orchards, farms, vineyards, excellent wineries, breweries, distilleries, and accomodations of all sorts. We sit at the base of the Grand Mesa and the Bookcliff range of mountains - both of which provide astounding local trails and scenery. Cycling experiences here range from beautifull road and cruiser touring to ultra-challenging singletrack. The NY Times published a feature article on Palisade that illustrates some of our unique local features.
Most visitors to the area will enjoy a short, 10-mile loop through the vineyards and orchards. This very flat, casual route suited to all abilities - even if you haven't been on a bike in years. Most of the area's wine tasting rooms and fruit vendors are within an easy pedal of downtown.
Riders looking for a few more miles will enjoy the 25-mile "Fruit Loop". The quiet, scenic roads of East Orchard Mesa make this route popular with cyclists. The route generally flat with "one big hill" on 38 Road.
